About
Mistvale Akaushi was born in 2021 in Bryan, TX, from the dreams of Aaron Harris and Alicia Altemose.
Aaron grew up on a dairy farm in Middleburg, PA, and always hoped to have his own ranch someday. Aaron earned his Masters in Data Analytics from Texas A&M University in 2018 and taking a position at NRG in Houston, which is how Aaron and Alicia ended up in Texas. Upon earning her PhD in Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University in 2019, Alicia joined Aaron in Texas, accepting a position as a chemistry lecturer at Texas A&M University. Aaron and Alicia purchased a 53 acre lot near Lake Bryan in July 2021 and bought their first Akaushi donor cow in November 2021. Since then, the herd has grown to 14 donor cows and heifers and 4 promising young bulls.
In 2025, Aaron decided to expand Mistvale Akaushi from a budding seedstock ranch into a meat business, providing 100% Akaushi beef to the public. Mistvale will soon have a meat shop on site, with an event space for hosting potential buyers to see the cattle on the ranch. The hope is that this shop and event space will be ready to welcome visitors to the Bryan-College Station area for the American Akaushi Association Convention in June 2026!

Vision

The vision for Mistvale Akaushi is to promote the Akaushi breed as powerful contenders in the premium Wagyu beef market. These cattle are bred to efficiently produce high marbling beef.
Mistvale Akaushi is a Lifetime Member of the American Akaushi Association (AAA), a member of the Texas Wagyu Association (TWA), and a member of the Australian Wagyu Association (AuWA). Aaron is a member of the AAA Board of Directors, the Chairman of the AAA Research and Breed Improvement Committee, and one of the founders of the North American Wagyu Zenkyo (the Wagyu Olympics of the US).
